Is it too late for Valentines?

For Christmas, I gave my Mom a pattern for a little wall quilt for each holiday. Then I told her that I kind of gave it to myself too- meaning I was going to join her and make them for me, too:) This was the first one I made, for Valentines Day! I embroidered "Love" in the corner, and all you have to do for the heart is sew strips of fabric together, then trace a heart on it, and cut it out! Then you applique it to the background and bind it! Super easy, and super cute!!

Embroidered Baby Blanky!

My sister in law, Amy, gave me this cute blanket when I had Owen. I just love it. I have made similar projects in the past by embroidering a tag and then sewing it on a ready made blanket, but I really love how she embroidered a little dog on there too, with his name. I just had to take some pictures of my super cute boy with his blanky!

Christmas Advent Calendar

This is a very special advent calendar. I grew up with one just like it, and this Christmas, my Mom decided to make them for my sisters...but she told me that I was capable of making my own...so I did:) lol She helped though:) But I remember when I was just little, looking forward to picking out one of the stuffed felt peices from the pockets, and putting it on. So I wanted to keep that tradition for my own kids!
This thing is a piece of work, I tell you! It took HOURS and HOURS to make!! Each piece is hand cut, hand pieced, and hand embroidered. But it was all worth it!:)

A few Christmas decorations:)

*MORE CHRISTMAS DECOR TO COME! Here are some of our stockings
This is a cute yo yo tree that I made, and embroidered. Cute!
My little guy couldn't get enough of looking at his cute mug in that ornament! If you look close, you can see his reflection, as well as my husbands. So cute!
Such a good helper!

Oops! I was all geared up for a girl...and it's a BOY!

"But Mom, you made a GIRL carseat canopy!" Uh, ya- his face says it all. We ALL thought it was a girl! Wrongo!
All the bows I either made, or bought (mostly made), in anticipation of our little girl- who is clearly not a girl!
The doll house I made for "her" for Christmas. Oops! (More to come on this- including the tutorial I followed.)
Again, my little Charlie is thinking "Mom, why did you collect so many girl clothes!?"
This is some of the stuff that I have collected over time, thinking that for sure, our second baby would be a girl. haha. Guess I was wrong!

Big Brother Shirt

This is the little big brother onesie that I used to announce my second pregnancy!! I appliqued the letters and dots on, and then embroidered it all by hand. It took forever, because of the thickness! But I am happy with the way it turned out!:)

Vintage Toy Chest!

Before I painted the inside of the lid with chalkboard paint!
After! I also made that cute little fisherman applique on the pillow to tie it all in with his fisherman room!

My grandpa made this toy chest for my Dad and his 13 siblings (yes, you read that right- my Dad is the second oldest of 14 children!). So, as you can imagine, this thing is OLD! It is actually in really good shape, structurally, so all I had to do was paint it! I did three coats, because I wanted to keep the charm of the antique. I used crackle paint once again, but I painted it so you could see some of the undercoat so it looks kind of like weather barn wood. I really like how it turned out:)

Story Book for My Daddio

I made this book for my Dad for Christmas! I covered it with owl fabric, cause he loves owls, and then I scrapbooked all of the stories he has written. He is a very talented writer, and he is an even more talented story teller! He even has a blog- www.grandpageorgesstories.blogspot.com. Then at the end, I even busted out some skills, and wrote him a poem! If you want to read it, then you will have to email me- rachellelaree@msn.com.:) lol
This is the applique/embroidery that I put on the front of the binder as the "title".

Quilt Book!

I am so excited about this quilt book I made. I am so proud of myself for thinking of it. I embroidered the words and designs on each of the pages, and then I put quilt batting in between the page with words and the back of the page. On some of the pages I embellished them with buttons or ribbons so that it will be more fun for Charlie to play with. I think I am going to save this for either Christmas or his birthday though!

If you are wondering why I did the "utah" page, it's because I want him to learn what our state looks like, and where he lives, exactly.:) And the page with his name will help him learn how to spell it.

Embroidery

I hadn't used this old frame in a long time, so I got creative and decided that instead of switching pictures in and out, I would make an embroidery that was in the same sections as the frame! I really like how it turned out! You can't see some of the lighter colors very well, but if you click on the picture, it will blow up to where you can!

And this one is for my mother-in-law's birthday. I still need to get a frame to put it in though. And I made some other ones, but they are for other people's birthdays, so I don't want to ruin the surprise. I think I am safe putting my mother-in-law's on here, because I don't think she looks at any of my blogs.

Embroidery

Thanks to my Mom, I have picked up the craft of hand embroidery! I love it. My Mom is so talented at sewing, quilting, embroidery, etc. And she taught herself all she knows! She is such an incredible woman, and I hope to be like her someday!
